A session titled “Study of water absorption and adsorption by using hygroscopic materials and SAP” conducted by Sorna Rani Das, Biotechnology Student at BRAC University during A S I School of Life 2025.

The session explained the scientific principles, uses, and significance of these processes, highlighting their roles in daily life and industry. Students engaged in interactive demonstrations using silica gel (to illustrate adsorption) and superabsorbent polymer ‘magic balls’ (to illustrate absorption), making the concepts clear, visual, and memorable.

Understanding these processes is essential for applications ranging from moisture control in packaging to water management in agriculture. Such knowledge also helps students connect scientific theory with practical problem-solving skills needed in modern technology.
